MD-100 Lab: Managing Windows Update Settings - "Get Updates For Other Microsoft Products With Windows Updates" is greyed out
MD-100 Lab: Managing Windows Update Settings
Student is told to go to Settings/Update & Security/Windows Update/Advanced Options and then turn on "Get Updates For Other Microsoft Products With Windows Updates".
The option in settings is greyed out.
At the top of Settings, it says in red: "Some Settings Are Managed By Your Organization"
To fix:
* Search GPEDIT.msc in the Windows search box
* Open Local Group Policy Editor
* Go to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update
* Enable "Configure Automatic Updates" - no need to change any options, just enable it
(If "Configure Automatic Updates" is disabled, it will block being able to turn some options on or off in Windows Settings / Windows Update)
* Open an administrative Command Prompt
* Run GPUPDATE /Force
* Close & Reopen Windows Settings
Settings/Update & Security/Windows Update/Advanced Options and then turn on "Get Updates For Other Microsoft Products With Windows Updates" should now be functional
